The AP exam results comes out in july.

I doubt that colleges can organize and place the freshmen into appropriate classes from july till the beginning of school

so is it only the AP exams that you take upto your junior year that can actually count as a college credit?

No, senior AP exams count. My son was placed based on his senior year AP's, and so were many of his friends that I know of.

No, all AP exams count. You can always change your schedule before school starts, since you get your scores in July.

It also depends on the school. Some schools have the student take their own placement exams at the start of first semester. You should check each school's policy.

oh! a new fact! thanks everyone for the quick replies.

uhh... I have one more question. do colleges still grant credit if you took the AP exam more than once to achieve a score of 5?
