Do AP's overlap in a college's credit policy?

Do AP's overlap in a college's credit policy?

For example, if you have credits in some humanities section from AP Psych would your APUSH also give the same credit?

In general, if someone took 15 AP's, would all of them help in getting credits/reduce tuition or would there be a max like 8 AP's that are taken in account (or like the Psych vs APUSH thing earlier)

Thanks for clearing this up. The college sites depicting their own credit policy are not super informative.

there is usually a maximum number of credits depending on the college
and I’ve found that a lot of privates don’t even accept most AP credits

I doubt that they would ever overlap in on subject.
AP credits are usually good for elective classes, but they still help!

It depends on the school. Note that credit and placement from APs may not be strongly linked at a school. For example, a school might give you credit for some AP, but not count it for any subject requirement or placement into a higher level course. For another school, or another AP, you may not get credit (or as much credit), but can use the test against some subject requirement or to place into a higher level course.

Some APs are obvious duplicates (e.g. if you have 5 scores on Calculus AB and BC, you would only get credit and placement for BC).
