Does college credit and AP credit work out the same. I took some classes at a local college and got 15 credit hours that were all A’s. I also to 3 A.P. classes and got 3’s and 4’s on them. My question is do A.P. classes give you college grades that are added to GPA or just the credit hours? Also, if A.P. does give actual grades, should I accept credit fo such low scores?

each college has it's own policies for handling credit/placement for both AP exams and college courses taken in high school. It varies enormously, but it's usually spelled out on the college's website.

It really does depend on teh school. ost Ivies, for example, only gives credit for APs with a scores of a 4-5. Alos, most privates will only allow you to add 2-3 AP course credits, to reduce your college load. The publics, like the UCs, give full course credit for any 3 or better, so a kid with ~10 AP's can essentially start in Soph standing.

I know what it does in terms of placement, but for instance, is a 4 equivalent to a B or does a 4 just earn you 3 credit hours of exemption? This is all just hypothetical of course. Thanks for your input in advance.

depends on the school, but you might want to check websites of schools that you are considering. For example, my school gives you 6 hours for a lot of AP course, but no grades in them. But other schools work differently.

Also, check with the college you got your other 15 credits at. I know my college(that I go to after high school) will put my AP credits on my college transcript with NO notation of them being AP. I know some of my colleges will only accept fours or fives but my current enrichment college will do threes... so I could possibly get credit for courses that I wouldn't have if I had just submitted the AP scores... make sense?

I don't know if this will work as I haven't picked a school yet but I've been told that they're done this for many other students.
