Do APs really make a difference?

I thought I would get some good responses here so....

Does self studying APs really make your college app look any better? Share your thoughts on something that has probably been posted to many times.

Yes, it shows you like to challenge yourself.

Self-studying AND passing APs looks awesome. I did this and I don’t know if it helped my application any but it sure did bump up my nerdy reputation at school!

I am just wondering (this may sound stupid) how do colleges know if you self studied an AP?

If you send them your AP scores during the admissions process. There’s a way to do so on CollegeBoard.

^how and what’s the cost?

They know you self studied if the class is not on your transcript.

And either way it’s another AP credit to add to the last.

The admissions people must see the scores and know people self studied just to look good, but it is still impressive.
