Do colleges actually check?

<p>So i've attended two colleges previously, both of which ive gotten pretty low grades at. Since then Ive taken a 1 year break and gone back to 2 different colleges. I am now applying for transfer. What are the chances of getting caught if I dont mention the 2 other colleges?</p>

<p>To answer your next question, “How would they know?” there is a National Clearinghouse for the information and all schools has to do is enter your information and they will see all colleges you have attended. I have seen my report, and even a first-aid class I took 15 years ago at a community college showed up.

<p>True, real life story: I was nearly booted from a graduate program that I was enrolled in because a routine review of the files at the recorders office found that one transcript was missing for a 6 credit summer course that I had taken 30 (yes, thirty) years before. The credits appeared on my undergraduate transcript, so I hadn’t realized that the university I was attending needed their own copy of the original. Well, now I do. I had the ancient transcript sent, and everyone was happy, and I got to stay in my program.</p>
