Like if a student received a 5 on APUSH exam would the grade be overshadowed by the poor grade the student received in the class, like a B+?

By whose standards (other than College Confidential’s) is a B+ mediocre? That is not going to be a deciding factor. The 5, in my opinion, would carry a greater weight. But see what others think too.

Yes to some extent. I got a B- in Calc BC but a 5 on the exam junior year (I had some personal issues, workload, and teacher in a different class issues). When I went for interviews at several schools, they were impressed by this and had me send my official score report to verify the score.

@guineagirl96 it’s probably just that your teacher was hard but she taught the right things. I’m not sure what I’d prefer more… a AP teacher who gives As out like candy but sucks at preparing for the test, or an AP teacher who is harsh but most of th students end up getting 4s and 5s.

@Jarjarbinks23 Honestly I would take the candy because at least the AP exams are standardized so you can always study on your own with a set curriculum
