If I dont have any sports on my ECs, am I not considered well-rounded? And also, would Badminton Club count as a sport?

Why would you have to participate in a sport to be considered well-rounded? To me at least, well-rounded applicants are students who aren't bookworms all the time and spend time developing other interests. Yes badminton club would be considered a sport.

The general answer is no.

But some colleges have student bodies where a gross majority not only played sports in high school, but played Varsity sports. Williams, for instance, loves to throw around that percentage. At these schools it might be a disadvantage.

And I am willing to bet that you wouldn't be comfortable at a school where that was such a big deal, anyway! Do what you enjoy, not what you think you SHOULD do.

Badminton club? I shudder to think that can equal out to soccer or Football or some other sport that probably takes 20 times the dedication.

Answer: no

No. As posted by kelsmom, you should probably exclude schools where that appears to be important or one that attracts a high percentage of athletes since you have already expressed a preference with regard to sports.

Why couldn't you put badminton club under ECs? It's a club, just like cooking club or photo club, but it happens to be oriented toward sports. As long as you aren't trying to pass it off as a varsity sport I'd say go ahead. Certainly people put club lacrosse or club rugby on their applications. It just gives the adcom a little bit more idea of what they do in their spare time.
