Hi, I procrastinated and I accidently missed the application due date for PROMYS. I have now planned to apply to ROSS and HCSSIM, will colleges care about what camp I go to or is it just that I do something productive during the summer?
Anybody?
Hi @blackbird1234 I have spent a lot of time researching summer programs, and from what I’ve read, you are right that just doing something productive over the summer is the main boost to college applications. That being said, obviously some programs are like a gold star on an application (things like RSI and TASP), and some that may not be as well known as those two, but are still good programs, I believe can help with borderline college decisions. Summer is also a great way to show what subjects you are passionate about and demonstrate your love of learning. So to answer your question, yes, going to ROSS o HCSSIM would look good on an application. But doing anything productive, whether it be just getting a job or getting an internship locally, also looks good. Which one would look better I can’t tell you, as it depends on the program you go to, but personally I love summer programs (yeah, I call them programs and not camps because the word “camp” makes me think of canoeing and making friendship bracelets), and if you pick the right one you can learn a lot and have a boost in your resume, so why not?
