Do colleges consider percentiles with standerdized test scores?

Hi!

I just recently got a 1390 on my PSAT. This is not that high of a score, and if I was a junior, I wouldn’t have qualified for national merit. But this score was in the 99th percentile.

Suppose if I got a lower score on the new SAT in October, but it was in the 99th percentile. Would colleges care about this?
Please answer this question in terms of both state colleges and selective colleges.

Thanks!

It’s irelevant what the actual percentile is. Either the school likes the score, or the school doesn’t.

I’m trying to figure out why you think a 1390 is 99%ile. https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/pdf/understanding-sat-scores-2016.pdf

@“Erin’s Dad” That’s what it said on my score report.

Perhaps the percentile difference may be because I took it as a 10th grader, so it compared me to 10th graders and not 11th graders.

I misread your post as the SAT rather than the PSAT. As @PrimeMeridian stated they’ll either like the score or not. 99%ile for the SAT is a 1450 which is a very good score (obviously). And the selection index (by state) is what defines whether you make NMSF.
