Does it matter below 99th?

I just got my PSAT score back- 1320. Does this count for anything at all? I think Nationally, I’m in the 97th percentile while in user data, I’m in the 93rd. I’m not sure what any of this means, or if it’s significant?

Unfortunately no, I was 99th percentile and didn’t eve get PSAT Merit.

@jalaeiaxjalaeia what is your selection index? Last year the commended was 209 and state cut-offs basically began with that number and higher. While the percentile tables for last year were suspect, basically anyone at Commended or higher is going to be in the top 50,000 scores and so in the top 3% of all PSAT testers eligible for NM consideration (there are about 1.6 million juniors who test every year).

Rather than look at your total score, look at your selection index.

Total score is more helpful for tracking how you’ll do on the SAT which, of course, you can submit to colleges.

Lowest score for commended if SI = 209 is 1410. National percentile is a made up number which assumes every junior in the US took the test. User percentile is based on results of the students who took the test last year.
