Hello and thank you for reading my question. Do colleges know the average SAT score of one's high school? For instance, if a student gets a certain SAT score and it is above the High School's average (by say over 500 points) does the student look "above average"? Is this what colleges mean when they say they look at students based on "the context" of their high schools?
Thank you!

Yes. High schools send out school profiles with transcripts. It will have basic information describing the community, student body, average grades, average test scores and how many AP and honors classes are offered. Some schools that don’t rank will indicate what top 5th or 10th percentile grade guidelines are.

Does this weigh in heavily?

Any more responses?
