Do Colleges look at which classes you take senior year?

Hi I’m currently a high school student and I’ve been researching colleges and want to know if I can get into Cornell CALS. I’m not in advanced math in my school so I won’t be taking precalc until senior year and the requirements for CALS say I need precalc, will it still count for when I take it senior year?

Also I heard that the SAT goes up through precalc in the math section, but considering I won’t take it until senior year I won’t have that knowledge when I take the SAT. Is it true that precalc will be on it and is it a big enough portion to affect my performance?

Yes

Yes. There is no US college that expects its applicants to have completed the “suggested” course of study by the time of the application deadline.

It depends on how your math courses are structured. The SAT math covers through very basic trig, which is usually, but not always, included in Algebra 2. The Math 2 subject test (but not math 1) covers through more advanced precalc.

Thank you so much this helped!

Yes, the in-progress courses in 12th grade are considered for admission purposes (and if you change them after applying to colleges, you need to inform the colleges applied to of the change). Also, you need to do well enough in them because college admission letters are typically conditional on completing the in-progress courses with sufficiently high grades (sometimes explicit grade or GPA minimums are listed, but often there is just a vague statement about expecting you to continue your high academic performance).

Thank you!
