Do colleges loook at scores or percentiles?

Do admissions committee pay more attention to the score on a subject test or the percentile. For example, a 750 on Lit is very different from a 750 on Math II. Those scores would be in the 94th and 75th percentiles, respectively.

They would pay attention to the score in the subject.

A 750 in math II indicates an applicant’s proficiency in mathematics while a 750 on lit indicates a good score in literature.

Percentiles aren’t as meaningful because the group of students who take SAT Subject Tests is incredibly high achieving compared to those who take the SATs. Specific tests have better qualified groups of students as well. Math II, Chinese, and Physics tend to have extremely well qualified students which is why an 800 might only be the 85%ile or even the 60%ile. A 750 is a 750 is a 750.
