How are we, as applicants, supposed to know that our file is complete and ready to be processed at any given school. Say for example that they received your common application, but your SAT score reports never arrived. Would they notify us? Or will we get an email saying that our application is ready for review? Thanks for any help!

Most colleges will give you accounts after you apply where you can check the status of such information. Others will email you if something is missing

This often comes up. If you pay the fee and hit “submit” and for some strange reason, something is missing and the college is closing up on the deadline, they will contact you or your HS (if it’s their fault). Remember: they WANT to admit you.

Depends on the school. Some have an online program you can look up your application and see what they have. Other schools will only contact you if you are missing something (which they do).

It depends on the school. For CommonApp components, you may check in your account. Otherwise, the school usually has a portal or website for checking and the link is usually on the confirmation e-mail. For some schools, they may e-mail you if something is missing. For Stanford, you need to submit your request online and they will send an e-mail with your current application status on it later.

Awesome! thanks everyone :)
