I just got my score for the January SAT and scored a 2270. 770CR 750M 750W. It was my second time taking it since I took it in October 2012. I received a 2060 670CR 740M 670W. That was a real big jump for me so in pretty proud of myself but I'm just wondering if I should take it again to get a 2300+? And I know that I can do better in math than a 750 because I took a lot of practice tests for math and received 800 most of the time.. And for writing I received a 10 essay ..while usually I I score a 12. I think I can definitely raise my superscore but some people have told me that colleges see 2270 as equivalent to 2300. So should I spend my time doing other extracurricular stuff rather than prepping for the test? I really don't want to take it again D:

Don’t do it man. Go out there and do something worthwhile with your time. Colleges don’t only look at your score; they also look at depth of character and versatility. I mean, shoot, is there really a big difference between $970,000 and 1 million dollars, even though the latter sounds much nicer?!

BTW, do you play WoW?

My vote is stand pat. A 2250-99%+ puts you in rarified air. That’s a high enough score where admissions should be taking a long hard look at your application. From there it will be likely up to your essay and EC’s. GL

I agree with both of you. But my friend who goes to UPENN sai there’s a way admission processors “cut” students. First be 2000, then 2100, then 2200, and lastly 2300. Is this true? And do ivy leagues see 2270 as good as 2300+s? I feel like I’m just gonna be compared badly against all those prestigious students,

And no I don’t play WoW! Why? Hahah

2270 is within the range of Ivy League schools, so once you’re in the range, your EC’s, essays, and other factors come into play more than your SAT score. Good luck. Get started on your applications EARLY!

@iboss i have a 2200 superscore. is that in the range for the ivies, especially Harvard? And if I have REALLY good essays and ec’s?
