Hi,
I heard from my friends that colleges don't look at AP scores until they accept you. Is that true or do colleges take AP scores in consideration for admissions?

Thanks!

They can look at them.
I don’t think they affect admissions very much, but they tell the college how rigorous your school’s AP courses are. If you got a 2 on the exam and an A in the course, that would indicate a subpar course.

It depends on the school, some colleges are test flexible and will allow you to submit AP exams instead of subject tests.

I have heard of schools looking at AP scores for the sake of admissions into their honor colleges, but not for general admissions.

Most colleges look at them but they barely care about them.
The scores themselves are only important when you are accepted ;)

Ivyesque colleges care about them, but schools below them will only glance at them, if that.

MIT and Stanford have both said they only care to see you take an AP course or whatever is the highest available course and only glance at the AP scores, making sure they are above a 1 or 2.
