I am wondering if colleges, mostly considering Ivys/HYPS, look for a focus in college admissions. Should I try to do tons of different classes/ECs/summer programs for a specific field of interest if I want the best chances in college admissions?
My understanding is that they want you to have a specific area where you’ve demonstrated significant accomplishment.
I’ve heard many college admissions officers say that they look to build a well rounded class. That class will include some individuals who are well rounded and some who have a specific talent/focus. So if you have a specific thing you want to focus on that is fine, if not that is fine too.
