Do C's completely kill my chances at NMF?

Top notch recommendations from administrators and counselors.

My transcript is pretty much straight B's, except one C and one A per year. I know it's not nearly where it should be but I take the hardest courses available to me (Full AICE curriculum, comparable to IB) as well as multiple AP classes.

Senior Schedule

4 years of Varsity Wrestling, 2 as Captain. Vice President of French Club.

I have a bit of turbulence in my family background and touched upon it in my essay. My dad died during my junior year and even though I never met him, it hit me pretty hard. Does the NMC take these factors into account?

I think your GPA and the C’s will prevent you from making NMF.

Sorry to hear about your father. I don’t think that will make a difference because you had C’s and mostly B’s for your frosh and soph years before your father died.

NMC doesnt’ seem to take into acct these issues.

If you’re looking for merit scholarships, then look for them based on your SAT and weighted GPA.

You might want to also look for colleges that give scholarships to semi-finalist. That recognition alone can get you substantial money at a handful of schools. It is worth the time and effort to address this now, just in case finalist does not pan out.
