My kids were selected into the Center for Talented Youth program and are taking on-line courses there. Do you know if it contributes to their admission chance ? Thanks a lot in advance
No - CTY is separate. In my opinion it is a moneymaking operation with a fairly low bar for admission that caters to anxious parents. I wasted almost $5,000 on a three-week summer program filled with kids from Asia whose parents stayed with them.
I loved all of the CTY seminars that my D attended and thought they were very worthwhile. I’ve heard, though, that participation doesn’t necessarily improve your chances of getting into JH (other than making your kid a more interesting person in general and helping to give him/her some direction).
They specifically asked that question in their application. If it didn’t matter why would they inquire ?
I don’t think it matters. As stated above, the bar for admission isn’t THAT high.
