I was wondering if both departments function at the same time. I know they are separate, but it seems to be inefficient at selective colleges if financial aid reviewed ALL their applications during these months when only like 10% of those people are getting accepted.

The reason I ask this is that I was just notified by a university's FA Dept that they had waived non-custodial parent information for me, because of my unique family situation. That means they had reviewed at least some of my materials in order to have made that decision.

Is this a good sign for my admissions status? Or does it have no relevance?
I appreciate all your thorough responses in advance!
