Do good test scores and GPA make up for less EC's?

<p>I have solid test scores and GPA, but my EC's are a little weak. Any knowledge about the aformentioned question would help much.</p>

<p>Harvard generally looks for at least the whole package. There are many people out there with solid test scores and GPA. Remember that Harvard looks to form a class that is diverse in all ways so that students will learn from one another.</p>

<p>Was at a Harvard info session tonight, they said straight up, an applicant is looked at in three individual areas: academics, characters, and extra-curriculars. Their applicants are traditionally exceptional in at least one, but should be accomplished in all three.</p>

<p>No. An absurd number of people at Harvard have good test scores and GPAs, which makes having good ECs a necessity, as well as leadership positions. Keep in mind, ECs don’t have to be the conventional things. A part-time job is one example.</p>
