would anything in college or beyond college require me to submit my HS resume? i'm planning to take a vastly different route during and beyond college (public service) from what I did back in high school (mostly sciency and academic stuff) and i'm worried that my lack of relevant accomplishments during HS may disadvantage me when applying for internships, courses, special programs in college, jobs etc.

The things that you did in h.s.-- even if they seem unrelated to your career goals -- still will be things that you'll build on for the rest of your life, even as you expand to other interests.

For instance, the science and other academic things that you did in high school will give you insights, research capabilities, and expertise in science and academic-related things that have to do with public service. For instance, public officials have to deal with issues related to the environment, schools, research, etc.

What you accomplish in college -- including ECs-- will be what determines whether you get college internships, etc. The exception will be fall of freshman year, when if there are special opportunities for freshmen, their high school experiences will be important.

College is virtually like having a clean slate. Fall of freshman year, ECs will be welcoming freshmen members, and having no prior experience with similar ECs won't keep you out of the organizations. The earlier you join organizations that interest you, the better will be your chances of gaining skills and rising to a position of responsibility.

There also should be plenty of opportunity to get involved in student government as typically colleges have elected freshmen representatives. So, if you're interested in public service, running for office or helping with the campaign of someone who is running with office can be a great way of connecting with the SGA.

I'm trying to sign up for work study, some of which is located Off-Grounds and is for private companies and there are some attractive offers out there (more than just the pay). Of course some is clearly specialised (be an intern engineer! yeahhh!!) and not for first years, but nevertheless all of them apparently (using my new school's system) require a resume.

What's relevant to put in it? I mean, should high school awards and distinctions go in there? And as you progress through college, you gradually take them out and replace them with your college distinctions?

Yes.

And as you progress through college, you gradually take them out and replace them with your college distinctions?

Yes, but major distinctions can remain on your resume until graduation. A major distinction would be something like being an Intel finalist or governor of Boy's State.
