Do I even got the sligthest bit of Chance?!

Okay so messed up in the SAT got a 1700. Know that it isn't even in the lowest range of Dartmouth but still as I was into it from the first so applying for ED. Don't know if the adcoms will even laugh or just throw it! :( :D

There are lot of reasons for messing up the SAT including the carelessness and mistakes of the authorities! And yeah I did some mistakes too, I am not denying. But still I can't show these excuses! :(

GPA: 5.00 out of 5.00

SAT Subject Tests: Physics = 750, Math 2C = 750

ECA: Volunteering, Managing a Free Tutoring Website, Led some Projects, Science Club in the school, Won prizes in the Science Far, Can play Cricket though it's not that popular in the US, Teaching, Writing in various Dailies and Monthlies (I also published an article on Dartmouth)

I am volunteering in the EducationUSA under the US Embassy. Got a recommendation from the Student Adviser there. Got a recommendation from the Dartmouth Alumni. Got two recommendations from my school teachers.... I know that they all wrote good things.

The Dartmouth Alumni already took a interview of mine. He was happy with me.

That's all I got!

I know that with a 1700 in the SAT isn't even counted as an unrealistic dream, far more worse than that! But still just interested what people will think.

Already read the stats and already in high fever! I don’t think I saw someone even with a 1990!

The people in the 25th percentile usually score around 2000. Your scores are quite low in comparison. Still, no one can say you definitely have no chance. Everyone has a chance. The likelihood of getting in, however, varies per person. I have a 2260 and decent ECs but I personally still think I lack compared to other applicants and that Dartmouth is a huge stretch. If I were you, I’d consider another school, but if you have your heart set out for Dartmouth, try it out!

While your score will probably hinder you, I don’t think it’ll throw you out… They care more about GPA, and your GPA is clearly phenomenal.

Good SAT II’s + great GPA + good common app + good recs will at least give you a shot :)

Good luck! Oh, and do apply ED no matter what  You never know…

How about this: switch your application from ED to RD, retake the SAT and hope for a better score. Being an international plus those scores are potentially fatal blows to your chances.

I would do what T26E4 said only if I took a couple of practice tests and saw a considerable improvement. Otherwise I think ED is the way to go (unless you need aid, of course)

Can you re-take the SAT in November or December? At 1700, little chance ED. Also, agree with T26E4 on switching from ED to RD to give yourself a bit more time re testing and to avoid getting knocked out of the box with a rejection in December.
