do i even want to major in engineering?

<p>So, im a senior in high school, and I turned in almost all my college apps. I applied as an electrical engineering major to most schools, and some industrial engineering programs, but now I am having serious second thoughts on what I want to be. I was never 100 percent enthusiastic about engineering, but I was never passionate about anything else either really. I kinda want to do accounting, but my drive for accounting is the same as my drive for engineering a year ago (im not really passionate about it, I just feel its "ok") what should i do? cause if I major in engineering all my classes in fall and spring will be lower dvivision engineering pre reqs like math and physics. i wont take too many GE's. plus i dont want to waste money and end up spending over 4 years at college. (im doing dual enrollment now so im supposed to actually graduate in 3 years, because im finishing off a year this year). so i wanted to finish college in 3 years, but i have no idea what i even want to major in now. </p>

<p>It’s hard to tell what you really want to do as you’re entering college. A lot of people start as engineering majors and switch after a while due to losing interest or too difficult of coursework. I’ve also seen people who started in some other field and eventually wanted to switch to engineering but couldn’t because they didn’t have the necessary math background. The thing is, nearly every option you have in college can be interesting if you make it so. </p>

<p>That being said, it’s unrealistic to think you should be ‘100% enthusiastic’ about any degree. At this point you probably know very little about the day to day work you’re likely to face with upper level college courses in any field. I would recommend you go for engineering. It won’t set you back too much if you need to switch after the first year, and you might find you like it more than you expect.</p>
