Hey everyone! And happpy new year!

So I'm only a Junior, and I'm sure that I'll probably get a B somewhere along the line, but I'm wondering if I technicalllly right now have a 4.0 UW GPA.

All my class averages have been an A. But my school's weird in that it only gives you the full 4 points if you get a 96 or above in a class. In 9th grade, I made a 94 in one of my classes, so my GPA on my transcript is like a 3.97. I know this is probably a stupid question, but will colleges recalculate to a 4.0 since it's still an A. Orrr not?

I’m not sure about the exact answer, but I know that not all colleges recalculate GPAs. They’ll probably take your school’s GPA system into account in some way, though. I recommend emailing some prospective colleges to get a better answer.

Why does it matter? They see your grades, they see what the school gives you, then the college judges your grades. It doesn’t matter whether to them it’s a 4.0 or 3.97, they see what you got in each class. Honestly, having a 3.97 won’t stop you from getting into Harvard so I don’t see why that matters either.

It’s not a big deal, but I’m still curious.

Also, colleges only see what’s on my transcript right, so if quarter grades don’t show up on my transcript, colleges won’t see them?
