I was recently differred from UM and i was shocked because most of the people i know got in there...I live in NY, have a 3.8 weighted GPA and have taken 6 AP courses so far, a 29 on my ACTs, president of nat'l honor society, capt of tennis team, worked in a doctors office and taught tennis in summers, did a community service program for soph year, in math and history honors societies and my essays were i would say a 7 out of 10...i am also the last one in the top 10% of my grade....the only downside is that my sr grades are not very good....
AP History=B
AP English=B-
AP Art History=B
Gym =A+
AP GovPol=A-
AP calc=C+
physics=B+
Health=A

do i have any chance after being differred of getting in? because i feel i have no hope

that's a 3.0 umich gpa if you count art history. I doubt you'll get in. On the other hand, you take five AP's, which is awesome so ur difficult courseload might help you. Are u taking BC calc?

Mike, your weighed GPA is meaningless to Michigan admissions. Michigan will definitely respect your course selection, but your GPA will most likely be too low. You still have a chance given your decent ACT score and your ambitious and brave course selection, but it is regrettable that your AP Calculus and AP English grades are so low.

mikey, you took an ambitious program this term, and even if Mich doesn't ultimately accept you, you did well. DS has had a smilar experience this semester - B in AP English, B- in AP microeconomics - he was deferred and I suspect will not be admissted to Umich. It has been a really tough semester (AP Calculus B+, Physics B+, Facing History A-), his worst ever. You have terrific EC's and test scores, you will surely go to a good college.
