Do I have a chance anywhere? :)

I'm not completely familiar with all American schools and I was just wondering if you could give me an idea of what would basically be a match for me?

Caucasian, Canadian female, not applying for financial aid

Unweighted GPA: 4.0

Weighted:4.620

I’ve had a 93 % avg for the past three years.

Our school is on a linear system, so you take up to a max. of eight courses at once and have all your exams at the end of the year. You are also only allowed to take APs in Grade 12.

This year I’m taking..
AP: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Calculus, English
I am taking French in immersion which is a Canadian program, kind of like an honours program,
and also History which is only offered regularly

Class size of about 800, I do not know my exact rank although I do know I am in the top ten percent.

Sat score-sigh- These are kind of embarrassing, I took them last spring, didn’t really know what I was doing but anyways..
CR: 690
Math: 590
Writing: 660

I’m retaking them in November and shooting for a much higher score, and I will be taking Chemistry and French subject test in December.

I will be taking all AP exams in May. (I know Calculus is on my birthday.. :\ )

ECs: -Competitive dance, (outside of school) for like 14 years (ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, pointe)
-Badminton Club at school 
-Piano for 7 years.. quit in grade 10, did some exams though.
-In the physics club.
-In the dance club.

Employment/ Volunteer:
-Lifeguard, which I did this past summer
-Cashier at Safeway for the summer
-I volunteer in a program where you are connected to new immigrants in my city, and you spend a few hours a week with them, show them around, teach them about the culture etc.
-My friends and I are in the process of raising $10000 for an organization called Free the Children, so a girl’s school can be built in Sri Lanka
-I volunteer tutor a little girl in Math an hour a week

My school doesn’t give out many awards, but here is what I’ve received:
-Cord Award three years in a row for having a 4.0 GPA every term throughout the year
-Passport Award for being in the top 6% in the province

I’m getting great recs from my Chemistry and Calculus teacher, and my essays should be strong!

Does your school rank? That might help me give you some suggestions.

Otherwise, it sounds pretty much like something for:
Tulane
Rice
UCLA
Northwestern

Not so much the Ivies, though... >_<

Thanks! And I'd be happy with UCLA! :) Do you think I could try and apply to one Ivy anyways maybe?

And would you say NYU is a high reach?

UCLA is extremely difficult to get into from out of state. Forget it, especially with your SAT scores. If you like that area, try USC.
Bring up your scores over 700 each and you'll be good for NYU.
If you can hit mid-700s you could apply to Ivies, but your profile is rather vanilla.

Okay, thanks for the honest advice. Are any of the other UC's less competitive?

bumppppppp.

cornell is easier to get into....so they say... lol..
