Do I have a chance at a Big 4 Accounting firm?

Hello, I'm a recent graduate from UCLA, Economics major but with emphasis in accounting, (took enough units for cpa exam)

I did an internship in the accounting field, have education abroad experience, (5 months in Thailand)

Fluent in Spanish.

GPA however is not so great, 3.1 in my major, but 2.91 overall

what do you guys think?

No, sorry, but they usually all require a 3.0 overall to even interview.

You’ll probably have to work a couple years elsewhere and then try to go for Big4 (you may not even want to do years down the line as your mindset may change).

What is your accounting GPA? You need that to be stellar to even have a chance. Without a great accounting GPA, you have very little chance because of that GPA.

Are you thinking of recruiting or something?

yea i was trying to do the recruiting thing, i thought i might have a slight chance, was trying to pull up the overall gpa to 3.0 to apply, but dont know. That might b a good way to do it, work somewhere else in the mean time

Even with a 3.0 GPA, it is very hard. You have to do some massive recruiting to even be given an interview. Then you have to shine through all your interviews as opposed to other people who dont necessarily need to shine.

The issue with starting elsewhere is that if you dont start in a similar field (auditing, tax, etc) you will probably start off as a first year. You would have been working several years in the field, maybe be making more than a first year associate, so would you really want to return to make less and work more? Just something to think about.

And yay for a fellow bruin :)
