Accounting Internship with a Low GPA?

Hello,

So my cumulative GPA right now is looking to be around a 3.3, which I realize is ridiculously low for an accounting major. I had a 2.8 for two semesters while I was still experimenting with my major, but since then, I've been getting a steady 3.7. I was wondering, are there any firms that would still take me despite my GPA? I know I don't have a shot at the Big 4 or anything, but can anyone recommend somewhere small maybe, just to start out and get some experience? (If it helps, I'm from CT...)

Also, what kinds of things can I do to make myself more marketable? I've held jobs and volunteer positions, but they were mostly PR and teaching positions, and mostly done for fun and some spare money. So no real accounting experience...X.x

If anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate it!

(And I'm probably gonna beat a bunch of people to the punch when I say "Yes! I know my GPA really sucks! I know! Really!" But I'm trying to find a way to work with it! )

You can absolutely get plenty of jobs with that GPA. Hell, I’d still apply to all Big 4 if I were you. I believe at my school the cutoff for Big 4 applications ranged from 3.0-3.5 so you should definitely be in the mix.

Making yourself more marketable is simple: Be personable and interview well! It’s as simple as that. Practice at all the networking events/CPA fairs so these interactions are second-nature come interview time. Good luck!
