Okay so I live in Georgia and I’m currently a senior going through the process of applying to college. I’m planning on applying to 6 colleges: Emory, Georgia Tech, UNC, UGA, Georgia State, and UNG. The first three I would say are my reach schools but what are the chances and what can I do to improve myself? I have a pretty low GPA (3.87 weighted) and my SAT score isn’t high enough but I plan on taking the next few SATs until I get a good score. Hopefully I only have to take it one more time. By the end of senior year, I am expected to complete 8 AP classes. I’m taking 5 ap classes this year. My sophomore year I took a bit of a dip but by junior year I raised my GPA up again and got all A’s except for one B whereas during sophomore year I got 4 b’s. I also have extracurriculars with clubs and various national honors societies at my school too. And this year I am doing an internship. This will be my second internship this year. So based on this information, will I be able to get in to these schools? I am confident about UNG and Georgia State but i would say for UGA i am 60-70% confident. What do you think? I just want to be sure and I want some advice too for improving myself throughout my senior year.
You are well on your way. You are doing the right things, especially with the internships, and you should get into at least one of these schools - I would be surprised if you did not get into several of them, but maybe not all. Which is, of course, fine, because it means you are aiming at the right range of schools.
