I was wondering if I can get into Cornell.

no wayyyyy

Eww....Apopka....sorry. :p

Well, the EC's look OK, classes look pretty standard. I think Cornell will like the music and poetry and such....it seems like you are very good at things other than science and math, and cornell engineering likes balanced students. And no two ways about it, race isn't going to hurt you at all. I know very few Black engineers. But I wouldn't go so far as to say that you can take URM status all the way to the bank. You're going to need to get those SAT scores up. And you need something that stands out; your resume seems pretty bland. But it's not going to hurt to try!

Central florida represent.

SAT's and rank low

15 APs is very good. Your rank is alright (I don't know about the highschool but I'm guessing that it is very good since they offer so many APs). You should try to get SATs up. Your clubs are good and ur music seems very good. Keep working hard and gl! I agree with the others about u being well rounded, which is very important!!

ps. Do you have ANY leadership positions?

Saxophone Section leader in marching band
Band Secretary

my school offers 25 AP courses.

Thank God I already got into Cornell, otherwise I would **** my pants looking at these kids' resumes. Cmon man, do you need us to reassure you that you're a good candidate? Not trying to be mean though, I think I posted a chances thread way back when. Confidence man! You don't need the people on CC to tell you whether or not you can get in.
Good luck though.

As far as scores go, I got in with a 700M, 630V, and 650W so don't be discouraged. Good EC's, good recs, and LOTs of leadership will help you. (I was editor of paper, lead producer of TV, did ~300 hours of volunteer stuff etc.)

Yeah you've definately got a shot. As long as you show an upward grade trend and keep up with the APs and extra-curriculars you should be fine. Just remember that you need to let yourself come through in your essays; you know, show who you are, what motivates you and why you love Cornell; don't just try to put down what you think they (the admissions board) wants to hear (b/c chances are that other applicants will). I think you definately have a shot.
