I’m a junior at a private school with a 2.9 gpa and 20 on my acts (that was my first time taking it). I’m treasurer of FBLA im also an admissions ambassador, I’m in drama, slam poetry, law club, podcast, book club, newspaper and track, and field. I’ve interned at two law firms, one real estate company, a gas company, a schools admissions office and I assist the head of the school district. I know I can get at least 10 letters of recs from supervisors, teachers, mentors, alums etc. Oh and I won a national latin award among others. Do I have any chance of getting into any of the following:
Howard U
Clark Atlanta U
Hampton U
American U
George Washington U
Pace U
Xavier U
Fisk U
My top choice is Howard & I want to major in Political Science
For Howard, you will need to improve your ACT and grades. Try for 27 or above for best chance. Your GPA is pretty low, but a doing well for the next semester will show an upward trend. Look at the college CDS, and you can assess your chances at the others.
@lotus890
Howard’s ACT range is 22-28. If you can improve to a 22 or 23, and write a Fantastic essay; you have a good chance.
@lotus890 I think you will get into some of the schools you have listed. I agree with the others that Howard could be tough without a higher ACT score/GPA, but you still have time to improve your stats.
For Howard, I’d say just focus on retaking your ACT and aiming for a 25-29 range. Things are going to be really competitive for c/o 2022 because we’re super over enrolled this year and admissions is being really careful to not do that all over again.
Clark I’d say you stand a pretty good chance of getting in.
Hampton might be a little rough because of the GPA but if you get that ACT score up a bit you should be good.
American was super competitive last year and will likely be even more competitive this year. That’s a bit of a toss up. Same with GW.
Pace should be fine, just try to do well with your last transcript.
Try to get the ACT up a bit for Xavier.
Should be good for Fisk.
Good luck!
