Hello,

I am from Quebec, Canada. I am currently enrolled in CEGEP (basically Canada's version of college). I only became interested in Harvard this past year. In high school I wasn't too big on school, but I was always on the honour roll. I had to leave the first CEGEP I was in for medical reasons and took about 6 months or so off. I am fully recovered.
I'm at a new CEGEP now and my grades are all above 90s, and I think I should be in the top 5-10% of my profile in Social Science. I also am the creator and leader of the SPCA de Monteregie Club (local no-kill animal shelter), and I am hoping to start a World Wildlife Fund Club. I am also a member of Invisible Children, and International Studies. In addition to this, I am in the running to be accepted to go to Mae Sot in Thailand for 6 months to teach English to children - this also means I will have a TESL certificate. I am worried that my marks from high school might favour me poorly, but they were still good. I also was apart of many ECs in high school. I was in all enriched classes and took challenging courses as my options. We only have up to grade 11 here, so the first year of CEGEP quite often counts as grade 12 anywhere else. I am not applying this year, but I am hoping to apply next year or the year after depending on the Mae Sot project.
I also am taking my SATs (since we don't normally take them here) in anywhere from 6 to 12 months from now. I am nervous about them since I have been out of high school for two years now. I am getting all the tools I need to study, and I'm doing exactly that. In addition, teachers have offered their time to help me with studying. I believe I will have great recommendations from my teachers and academic advisor. I am also already working on my essay, so that I know I can really get it right and have plenty of time to change anything that doesn't work.

Please give me your opinion about whether or not it is possible that I can get accepted in the future. I will still apply all the same, but your advice and guidance would be appreciated. If you have any suggestions for me, they are most welcomed.

Thank you.
