someone up there tallked about finding a distinct style as helping your portfolio. that is MOST DEF not the case. coming into your own style this early in your artistic development is NOT going to help you because you will look "unteachable".

Here's how it works. They give you a score on your portfolio, and a score on your academics. The lower your score, the better. Then they add them up. If your score is lower than about 5, you get in. Your academics and portfolio are both important. There are some people here who aren't very good at drawing, and there are some people who aren't good at studying (me). But there is no one here who CAN'T draw.

I don't get why people keep asking this forum if they can get into a certain college anyway. I didn't ask anyone, I just applied to a bunch of colleges. I don't think anyone thought I could get into RISD but I did.

Linzoy, I COMPLETELY agree that for people to ask whether they can get admitted to a college in these forums is a bit inane. People here really don't know and certainly don't know all the informatin about an applicant.

I have to agree with DGB. Having your portfolio accepted by MICA is no guarantee that RISD liked it. My portfolio was accepted on the spot by MICA. The RISD guy was much tougher. You can't compare NPD reviewers. It's a long line and there are a lot of reviewers from each school. It's luck of the draw as to who you get. One reviewer might like something completely different from another reviewer from that same school.

Nothing's a given.
