Hello I really want to be in this program but I am afraid that my SAT scores are not good enough.
SAT: 1430 (720M, 710CRW)
SAT II: Chem 690, Math 2 (610, I’m going to retake in November… Will they still accept November scores?)
I also plan on taking the ACT in December, but that might be too late.
I did research at Albany Med for 2 summers (740 hours total) investigating Parkinson’s Disease and Epilepsy, and I am on 1 paper in submission and 2 posters. I also worked with Albany Med to create Albany Brain Bee competition. Most importantly, the professor that I worked with at AMC wrote me an incredible letter of recomendation (he said that he has mentored 30 grad/undergrad/PhDs and that I am one of the best students he has ever had in the lab, even against past college students. I showed the letter to my advisor and he said it was one of the best and longest letters he has read, and he highlighted examples of my research work and intellectual curiosity).
I also shadowed a neurologist at AMC for close to 50 hrs and did volunteer work at another nearby hospital for 50 hours.
I think I have made it pretty clear through my application that I am committed towards a career in medicine with a focus on research.
With the information I have provided, does it seem like I have a good chance of at least making it to the interview stage?
It is as hard to get into BS/MD programs as top Ivies. You don’t mention your school grades and courses, but the test scores are not at the level for programs like that.
You probably need significantly higher scores on both the SAT I and II. Also, RPI is a good school, and that probably isn’t the easiest BSMD program to get into.
Most of the people there had multiple close to 800 SAT IIs and similar AP exam scores. You can give it a try, but obviously apply to multiple schools, and probably the lower end ones. There are so many applicants for so few places in them. You should have a decent shot at med school eventually though.
AAAH those stats are crazy! I can only dream of getting those test scores haha. Even though my rest scores are low, do you think that my research and recomendation letters can compensate?
If not, what “lower end” programs should I consider applying to? I’m afraid that, while I will most likely have good research and ec involvement in UG, my MCAT score will be low since I am not good at test taking, so getting into med school might be a struggle.

Lower end means not associated with competitive undergraduate schools or med schools. BSMD programs are much harder to get into than med school. So maybe you need to work on your test taking or consider other options.
Do you know if they will consider November scores? If I remember correctly, RPI wanted all test scores in by the November date, and AMC says that they will consider up to the December test date. Can anyone corroborate this info? I plan on taking the SAT math 2 in November and ACT in December.
