Do I have a chance at UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, and UC Davis?

Yeah, like many others said, I think you have a really good chance, especially since your Hispanic with a great GPA and challenging classes and whatnot. :]

Hey, thanks guys. Ya I get pretty stressed and worried about college and applications, etc., even though I'm still a junior haha. But ya I'm not very strong on standardized tests. Like I mentioned in my first post I'm gonna start prepping with this company which is heard is amazing and it often raises people's score 250+ points, like my friend who goes to wharton business school at UPenn who went from a 2090 before tutoring to a 2310 after, which is amazing. I hope to raise my score up to at least the 2100 range if possible. But ya karen, that's a really good GPA, it might be better is as good as mine cuz different schools or school districts do things differently (like my school district for valedictorians). And I have a few friends in journalism at my school, and my girlfriend is the editor of the yearbook so I know a few things about that.

Bump. I wanna hear more opinions on what to do or what to do in reagards to anything previously discussed or anything new that people wanna bring up. I should also add that I was just invited to go to the orientation to start volunteering at my local hospital, and I have also made it into this club/program at my school that is made up of upperclassmen who help freshmen students adapt to high school (the main things we do are freshmen orientation and tutoring freshmen who are failing classes).

Bump. I wanna hear more opinions, please.

Bump please.

Bumpppppp.

Bump please. I really wanna hear more opinions. Also, this is a little off topic, but does anyone have any tips on how to approach an application essay, like things that should be done and things that should be avoided?

Bump please. I would really appreciate any advice anyone has to offer (about anything really).

Bump sigh.

Hey I am a Junior from the Bay Area, right now I have the same SAT score as you do. But, a bad GPA compared to yours. I WANT to get to Berkeley or UCLA, but I would be happy with SD and maybe Davis. But I prefer SD. I am hoping my test scores make up for my decent but not outstanding GPA like yours. I am pretty confident that i could get a 2100, which is like the average to get into Berkeley. So, I am pretty sure you can get in to Cal, with that GPA and a 2100+.

Good chance for you in UCB - good luck.

This SAT prep place you mentioned that can boost 250+ points , can you
give us more more info on this ?

Hey sr210, yeah no problem. The company is based on Southern California, so you might not be able to use it if you don't live within the greater Los Angeles area. It's called Catalyst SAT & College Prep, and their website is Catalyst Prep - the spark to an extraordinary score . I heard about it from my friend who used it to go up from a 2090 to a 2310 which isn't quite 250 points but still amazing. He also recommended it to like 20 other friends and they all went up like at least 200 points; his girlfriend went up 280 points! By the way he goes to Wharton business school at UPenn now, but I think I might have mentioned that before.

Bump. So people can see about Catalyst if they live around LA and might be interested. And more comments would be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks!

Bump please. I have plenty of views but not enough replies!!! Please!!!

get your math sat score over 700 and I guarantee you'll get into all the UC's without a doubt. You're pretty much set on all of the UC's except maybe berkeley

It's been a while, so bump.

Btw I should also mention that I am now in fact volunteering at my local hospital for 4 hours a week.

don’t worry about it. my scores/gpa/school and everything were waaaaaaaaaay less spectacular than yours and i was accepted into uci, ucd, ucsd and uc berkeley (spring admit though  ) but rejected from ucla and stanford. since you go to a ca school and in the top 4% of your class, you are considered elc which means that the uc’s will guarantee you a spot in at least one uc school. the only reason i probably got into my schools was because i was in the top 4% of my class, so it helps a lot. that and probably all my extra-curriculars
