Do i have a chance? legacy.....

My sister is a freshman, going into sophomore year, and i was wondering if it realy helped that much as far as admissions go.....here are a few stats as well

SAT: M-720 CR-660 W-640
ACT- 29, took it this morning, hoping to do better =P
95 GPA
Relay For life Chairperson
S.A.V.E. President
Model UN Vice President
S.A.D.D. officer
American Cancer society Internship
Volunteer Program at Hospital
Working at a store for 3-4 years
ton of other ECs....just dont feel like typing them

what do you think?

in case you didnt feel like adding up the SAT scores, it comes out to a 2020 out of 2400 or a 1380 out of 1600

99% chance

Good chance.

Are you an in-state student?

I agree....you should get in...

why do people post these chances threads when they already have outrageous stats? you're applying to UF, not Yale or Princeton. UF is a good school but posters here seriously overstate the admissions criterion for acceptance.

agreed....

I disagree with Ladistar.

UF dinged plenty of students with 1420's on their SAT and only accepted 36% of their applicants. Basically if your not a URM then it's a complete crap-shoot because your a dime a dozen.

I knew people that got rejected even 4-5 years ago with 1400+ SAT's for whatever reason. I imagine the standards are higher now. Unless you're an outstanding highschool student with some impressive academic accolades, you probably should be at least mildly concerned about getting in. In giving chances, I'd prefer to err on the side of caution and not lull the OP into a false sense of security.

well, to answer an earlier question: i am not in state

I wasn't sure if my stats were good enough simply because of the fact that so many people with better scores than me were rejected. Whether they were rejected becuase of ECs or some other factor is obviously unknown to me...therefore i was just hoping to get some feedback from people other than those in my school.

I don't think i have a 99% chance but im glad to here im qualified

Ladistar, that might be true for FSU but TC's stats do not guarantee admission to UF by any stretch. Kindly control yourself.

TC is simply a good candidate. NOT a shoo-in.

i agree with ladistar

They are most likely rejected because admission officers know that those applicants consider UF a safety and will most likely not attend. Being a URM might be an advantage or a plus (perhaps because you have something else to offer to the campus), but it is clearly a crap-shoot for everyone in a sense.

No seriously that's the problem with UF Admissions. They would rather have the son of a pig farmer with a 1250 SAT and 3.8 GPA rather then the 4.0 1400 SAT student.

Basically UF admissions doesn't reward the best & brightest.

so im getting mixed signals.......WOULD I GET IN?!?!??!?!

GatorMania09,

We are obviously not admissions officers and can not decided whether you get in or not. I think we can all agree that you have great chances. However, we have known other applicants with similar stats have been rejected, for whatever reason. Your best bet is to write the best essay that you can, to keep up with your academics, and apply early.

Your sister attending UF doesn't really make you a legacy. The term 'legacy' usually applies to the children of alumni.
