App Info:
Essays.. I didnt really get them edited by a lot of people.. Just a couple people, but they liked them cause they thought it was different. It was a bit on the short side, but definitely a bit unique.
Recs, I'm sure they're okay. I know that my counselor's report was great.

Worries:
One of the biggest worries that I have is my SAT stats.. It's 2240, it's not bad. But it's a score from two different sittings. My first sitting was in March 2005, in which I got 2220. My second sitting was in October 2005, in which I got 2160. I dunno what the hell happened but everything went down except for Math, and I should've gotten 800 in Math easily..
So basically, my SECOND sitting had a lower score than my first, which I'm afraid the admission officers may be a little hesitant about. Also my reading is 680.. It's below 700.. SIGH T_T

I applied to Columbia Fu Foundation School of Engineering. I want to pursue engineering in undergrad at least, since my science/math is definitely stronger than my humanities. I heard Columbia Engineering is not that hard to get in, but I also wanna do the BA/BS combined program there.. which I heard is also a bit more competitive than other programs..

I really want to go to Columbia. Can anyone tell me if my stats have a chance to get admitted?

Thank you! PM me if you need more info.

Umm I know this guy in our school who got in Columbia Engineering with like 2100..so I think you shouldn't have a problem.

"I heard Columbia Engineering is not that hard to get in"

Do not be deceived by the relatively high acceptance rate (compared to the college). Keep in mind that the college will receive many applications from kids who are only applying to Columbia because it is in NYC. The engineering school is very self-selective, as only a certain type of student wants to pursue that field. Also, the range of the SAT scores for SEAS is actually higher than at the college.

"Keep in mind that the college will receive many applications from kids who are only applying to Columbia because it is in NYC. "

Wouldn't this acutally decrease the acceptance rate?

Your stats look familiar...Are you Paul Y?

mohhil: katieeeee was talking about Columbia College, not the engineering school. NYC will decrease the acceptance rate for Columbia College, but not so much for the engineering school because the applicants are mainly those who apply to become engineers, not for the location of the school.

why do you ask what is your chance???????????????/ you have a 2240 sat and a uw 4.0.......shouldnt that ring a bell or are you JUST A BOOK SMART?

You have a reasonable shot. As an eng applicant, the 680 Verbal won't hurt you too much. It would have been somewhat better to have a 780/800 on the Math. It won't matter much about the SAT scores coming from multiple sittings. They will pull the scores from the CB report, write them somewhere else, and not care how you got them. Your SAT II scores will help tremendously. You main problem is that Columbia is a reach school for nearly everybody who applies. (At HYP, the acceptance rate for applicants with SAT's of 1600/1600 is 40-45%.)

If you don't have a chance... then I don't know about myself.

You know, these threads are useless. Two of my classmates, with 2200 SATs, 94-96 GPA, Key Club, Business Club (neither had any amazing award or an outstanding EC) got into MIT. Goes to show that asking for chances on this thread is no better than consulting a horoscope.

sometimes i feel that ppl ask these kind of things to show off. i mean i understand if a person with average stats is asking if they could get into a semi-hard college and are really scared. but come on. you have a perfect gpa with really high SAT. and you are going to apply no matter what anyone on here says. and deep down in your mind you know you have a chance of getting in. just wait for your letter. don't go flaunting your achievments all over when you know you're good enough. and if you don't know, go on the princeton website and find out the admissions stats there and compare your stats. easy said...easy done.

u know what the correct answer is?
U'll have as much of a chance as u present urself. Not lookign at ur essays or anything we can conclude nothing.

I know what people are saying, but the OP does have a reason to post. Their total SAT score is pretty low for Columbia as a non-hooked applicant. A plus for the OP is that the SAT I Math and SAT II scores are much more important for engineering applicants than the SAT I Verbal. The OP is within striking distance with the SAT I Math and the SAT II scores and his/her EC's are excellent. Also working against the OP is the flighty nature of applying to a super-elite college. There is no reason to worry about the SAT scores being from separate sittings. Hopefully, this is what the OP was asking for.
