Ok. I’m really worried right now. I feel like I’m only good enough to get into the winky-dink schools where all the slackers go, even though I feel I’ve worked harder than them. But at the same time, I’m not saying I’m crazy academic and have a ton of extra curriculars either.
Here’s me in a nutshell:
Freshman year only took Honors English (just moved to California from Midwest, had no idea you could take Honors Biology etc) - then Geometry CP, and French 1(again, no opportunity for me to take it in middle school when I lived in the Midwest) and all the other standard jazz
Sophomore Year
Joined Majors Program (Health) as my extra curricular
Took PSAT
Took Bio Honors, English Honors, but not Euro AP (took World History CP over summer) - and French 2! Algebra 2 CP… Oh, and I’m Secretary of the French Club
Junior Year
Totally hasn’t happened yet… but I’m taking English 11 AP, French 3, Chem Honors, Bio AP, Art Media… (US History CP over summer), rejoining CSF, still gonna be in Health Majors and hopefully an officer in French Club
Senior Year
is still up in the air for me, but for sure I’ll take French 4 AP, Calculus AP, and English 12 AP, probably two sciences again, idk
As for my GPA, hasn’t been below a 3.6, usually a 3.8, has been a 4.0.
So, as far as I see it, I can’t get into any UC schools (with the exception of Santa Barbara). I want to be a veterinarian so that’s why I was looking into Davis but bites nails haha not lookin’ good the way I see it!

Keep up your extracurricular, but focus and worry most about grades and SAT score. You will want to score above 1800, and as close to 2000 as possible and keep your GPA around a 3.8, as close to 4.0 as possible (unweighted). :)

As long as you keep your grades up I’m sure you will do fine. I go in with a 3.5 weighted,a 1860 sat score and alot of community service. I got in on the waitlist mind you, but I got into some other UC schools as well before that. By the look of things, I am pretty sure you can get into most or all of the UC’s at the rate you are going, so don’t worry about.

It’s hard to judge your chances without knowing your scores and GPA, and especially since you haven’t started your junior year.

Also, its predicted that the UC system will continue to increase in admission difficulty.

I was accepted off of the UC Davis waitlist (Although I’m still not sure why I was waitlisted). I had a 3.8 GPA, a 1990 on the SAT 1, a 720 on Math 2, a 650 on Literature, a part time job, and several extra curriculars. Also, many members of my family attended Davis. Regardless, I’m glad I got in and I hope you get in too.

I got in with barely any curricular activities besides being in some clubs such as CSF and being an officer in Japanese club. I took mostly all Honors / AP and was always in top 15 for my class. I didn’t do so well on the SAT 1810 and I did horribly on SAT 2s, but yeah. UCs are also totally random in a way. My overall GPA around 3.8/4.0 haha. Not much curricular activities opposed to good grades for me.

maylix is right

you’ll be safe with a 3.8~4.0 UC gpa and sat around 1800+

good luck! you can make it!
i made it with a 3.8 UC gpa and sat 1780 xP

p.s you should take a look at the acceptances for class of 2010

hope that helps!!

considering you haven’t even finished junior year yet what do you expect us to post in this thread.

take the SAT then maybe ask again. and we don’t even know your GPA?

my GPA is on there, you know. all i was really wondering was if i was on the right track…
