Do I have a chance of getting into BYU?

Hello! I’m a Junior in High School right now and as the school year ends, am starting to worry about college. BYU is one of the options I’m looking into, but because my GPA’s not the most fantastic thing to look at, I’m wondering if I have a shot at this point. Is there anything I can do now to beef up qualifications? Do a service project? Join the school play? What am I missing that they look at and what can I do Senior Year to at least have a chance?

*30 on ACT (36 in English, 34 in Reading–it would have been higher if I didn’t suck at mathematics)
*3.5 GPA (…alright, so I’m not exactly valedictorian here)
*I will be graduating in LDS Seminary by HS senior year, if that matters. Probably does for BYU…?
*ranked 250 out of 700 kids in my class

The obvious starting point is targeted test prep for your weaker sections on the ACT. You are doing incredibly well on half of the ACT, which should make prepping for the rest very manageable.

*in case anyone is reading this, I did get into BYU. So if you’re around in the same spot and you’re wondering if you got in, maybe that’ll give you a better indication? But maybe not, I think I just got very lucky…

Nope, you didnt get lucky, your stats were stong enough to get into BYU. BYU average for ACT (2014) was 26-27 so you were above the average. Also, your GPA was average.
