Do I Have a Chance of Getting into Scripps College

I'm from southwest Missouri. I'm also applying ED 1.

GPA: 3.8
Class Rank: 10/135
ACT: 25 Composite; 27 Superscore (23 Math, 25 Science, 26 Reading, 34 English)

Senior Year Courses: Marching/Concert Band, AP Psychology, Pre-Calculus, AP English, Varsity Debate, Anatomy & Physiology and Dual Credit Spanish 101/102.

I'm the President of my 4-H club. I'm also in Heritage Club, Key Club, and Knowledge Bowl. I also help teach the kindergarten Sunday school class at my church.

I am a member of National Honor Society and I've received three academic letters.

In 4-H, my county fair entries qualified for the state fair. My photos have been published in a local college's literary/arts magazine.

Do I have a even slight chance of acceptance?

Thanks!

That’s quite a reach… do you have safeties lined up for RD?

Yes, I’m applying to Mount Holyoke, Pitzer (I know that the acceptance rate is quite low) and Bryn Mawr. My true safeties are Drury University (in Springfield, Missouri) and Missouri Southern State University.

What colleges do you recommend?

What makes Mizzou “not a fit” for you?

I don’t qualify for very many scholarships at Mizzou. It also is too big, in my opinion. I might still apply, but I haven’t decided.

I like Missouri State a lot, but again, I only qualify for a $2500 scholarship.

Bump! Anyone else?

Scripps would be a reach college. Don’t count on anything, just hope your essays etc. were enough to make you stand out. Let us know when you know! Good luck! <3

Hi, I’m a senior at Scripps.

@HelloImChelsea. Scripps puts a lot of emphasis on personal essays as well as an interview if you had a chance to go through one. Grades and scores are also, of course, important. But nothing is the be-all-end-all for Scripps admissions. Scripps has a very holistic approach to admissions and everything is usually weighted very equally. I hope you did apply! Scripps really does look at the fit of the prospective student for the school.

There are so many applicants who are also very qualified. Make sure you have some back ups that you would actually enjoy going to and would be happy at. I don’t believe there is only one school for someone, but I do think there are many schools that are a better fit for someone than others. Your GPA is also quite high and your scores are not low.

Good luck!

DgrenSCR: Yes, I did apply, but I’m afraid that my chances for FA won’t be very good because I had to submit the CSS Profile today and my parents don’t think it was very accurate… The FA process is more stressful than the application process. Thanks for giving me hope!

Have you heard? Have an update for us anxiously waiting RD?

AcademicAmy: Yes, I did hear, but I didn’t get in. :frowning: I was hoping to go to Mizzou for its journalism and finance program, but my mom won’t let me.
