I've been considering applying to Dartmouth, and maybe Harvard/Yale too for Fall 2005 undergraduate.

I live in a rural community of Canada, in the province of Nova Scotia. I figure I did well on the math portion of the SAT I (like 750 or so I hope), but the verbal was my downfall I may only get 500 or so, maybe 600. The low verbal score is not really my fault. I had 100% unweighted in my Advanced English, which was the highest possible course and grade for my junior year. This shows a flaw in the curriculum (or lack there of) for last year. Hopefully the Admissions Officers will be able to pick up on that, and not dock me for it.

Here's some of my stats:
GPA: 97.0% end of last term (junior year grade 11)
Rank: 1 of ~70 at the end of junior year
Course Selection: Most rigorous available (AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, AP English, AP Biology, and Global Geography [compulsory])

Extracurriculars: -Senior Executive Student Council (Recording Secretary)
-Senior School Newspaper Reporter (2 years)
-Curling for a school team, and a personal team (3 years)
-Call to Remembrance in freshman year and in junior high
-Will be playing Softball in the spring
-Have been golfing for 6 years
-Ice Hockey for a personal team in freshman year and in junior high
-Reach for Dalhousie Program (it's like Jeopardy!)

Volunteering: -Will be volunteering about one hour a week to help kids learn to curl.
-Will be tutoring be the end of the year.

Other: -Attended the 2004 Dalhousie University Science and Engineering week (invitational event, one student per school from my province)
-Part time job for Humpty Dumpty Snack Foods (Potato Chips and Corn Snacks) around 10 hours per week

So do I have a chance?
