So, I'm planning on EA in the fall as of now.

Please tell me if you think I have a chance.

Thank you,
Lauren

Your NEW SAT score is 1390?

Try to raise chem and math SAT II by 100points (or just one if they count only the three highest) A 32 ACT is not bad...that is what I think I will also apply with. Do not emphasize your SATI scores cuz ur ACT score is comparatively a 1420...better. Unless you have a hook or legacy you might want to try RD because the early applicant pool is RUTHLESS in EA according to what I heard! But I'm not an adcom

How would RD help with a 1420? Can't anyone be honest? She doesn't have a shot at all.

5.85 weighted? ***?

You need higher SAT scores in order to have a chance at all. Your ECs are good, but lack passion (at least from what i perceive), so they won't set you apart from the rest of the apps.

are you a minority?

candlize: new SAT score = 2150.

apfreak: thanks for the help, i am retaking SAT II chem in the fall.

suze: well, i can't really thank you for anything.

NO G8 SN: yes, that's my gpa. passion that i will emphasize in essay is my committment to helping/aiding others (hospital, internships, desire to work in medical field, regular job at pediatric clinic, started program at school where high school students read and help out parents in pediatric clinics). other desire would involve youth having a voice (founder of mecklenburg youth voice in community, now very well-known and respected and supported by all governing bodies in state; one of select members on sue myrick's youth advisory council; have served as a page in raleigh for four years).

sunglasses: sadly, no.

thanks to everyone who's offered me help, it's greatly appreciated!

What about honesty? Really, wouldn't you rather get realistic now than in April? You should use the EA for a school where you have a shot. I'm not dreaming of getting in with a much higher score and high ranking at a very top prep school.

i don't really see how you turned this into a miniature online catfight.
all i asked was a question, and it was obviously geared toward people who are more familiar with the school (IE: actual harvard students) rather than people who are in the same boat as i am.

i don't need to justify myself to you. so, once again, thank you to the people who have offered me guidance. to the rest of the students trying to get into a good college, good luck.

No catfight intended. Just a personal pet peeve I have about people who post questions but don't want honest answers. Really, no Harvard student, past or present would be telling the truth if they said you had a chance in.....

Certainly she has a chance. If she writes good essays, has excellent recommendations, and has a good interview, they may be able to make up for her grades. That's not to say that she has a particularly good chance, but it's possible nonetheless that she can get in.

Look at any number of scattergrams to see the likelyhood of a non hooked candidate with these scores being admitted.

Where are those scattergrams? I wanna see it! I need more info.

apfreak, lol. You need to chillax. Aren't you a URM?

Lauren:
Do you go to Myers Park HS? I'm going to Providence in August. Im so excited!

Yeah....lol...still wanna see it!

To answer your question, yes you have a chance, albeit that chance is <5%. SAT & SAT2 scores are low, GPA is sub-par for Harvard, EC's are below average. My brother didn't get in with 1600 SAT, 3 800 SAT2's, perfect GPA, very good EC's, just to show you how difficult it is.

i understand that my chances are slim to none.

thanks everyone!
