Do I have a chance to get into UPENN and how can I improve my chances?

Do I have a chance to get into UPENN and how can I improve my chances?

I am a current 11th grader in a public high school. My grades are usually high B's to mid A's. I'm not exactly sure of my GPA because we havent gotten our semester grades yet but I'm fairly sure it's around a 3.7. I've been a year ahead in math all my life and I'm taking 2 AP classes this year and most likely 3 next year(including calc). I'm scheduled to take the SAT in march (what score should I shoot for to get into Penn?). I have about 9 extracurriculars/sports, I'm not a leader in any of them currently but I plan to run for president in one next year. I'm a white female. I live about an hour away from penn so I'm local. I went to a private school untill 8th grade but now I'm in public school. I do lots of volunteer work, I dont know exactly but I'm going to guess about 150+? so far in my high school career. I don't currently have a job but I'm most likely going to apply for either a part time job or an internship this summer. I visited PENN and went on a tour last summer.

I'm planning on applying to the UPENN university of arts and sciences. I want to know if I have a chance of getting in and how likely it is that I'll get in. I also don't know whether it would be better if I applied for early decision or regular decision. Is it better to apply EC so I'm competing against less people or is it better to apply RD so I have more time to raise my grades? What can I do between now and applying to improve my chances of getting in? Any help would be much appreciated! (:

1) definitely apply ED if you want to go.
2) It really comes down to the SAT score for you. Just continue with what you’re doing, but you need a 2280+ SAT and then I think you’ll get in. Also do well on SAT IIs.
I’m saying 2280 cuz your GPAs low for a public school.

4 or 8 years from now, you’re going to be done with college (whatever college it is), and hopefully you’ll remember how foolish this post was. Best of luck!

Alright thanks! I’m going to take the SAT at least 3 times so hopefully I can reach that type of score. Standardized tests aren’t exactly my strong point so I’m going to read this huge SAT book I have and hopefully if I don’t do well enough on the first one my parents will pay for some sort of SAT coaching prep. I appreciate your help so much!

Why is this post foolish? I just want to know my odds of getting in so I can improve my college search/application process.

Its “foolish” because as you spend more time on this site, you will realize that you can have a 2400, 15 APs, and be a national champion, and still get rejected. No one here can really chance you effectively, I too have made chance threads but I have realized that no matter what people tell me, in the end they could be right or wrong. Just wait a few months and read this post, you will laugh.

Well I know I mean I’ve heard of valedictorians not getting in so obviously no one knows for sure but I just want to get a general idea. Haha :p

when i posted my first chance thread, a few people told me that i had weak (_______) and my chances were not good. i ended up getting in ED over some people who were definitely more qualified than me on paper. that’s why the post is foolish lol because the people here really can’t give you the right answer.

all i can really tell you is that you are definitely still in the ballpark of getting in, so just try your best.

The are schools where we might be able to say that it’s a safety (e.g., >95% chance of acceptance) for a given candidate, or a match (50% chance), but UPenn is one of those schools often considered a reach (<5% chance) for almost everyone, where acceptance is nearly impossible to predict for those with the highest stats.
