Do I have a chance with low-end stats but good EC's?

Please let me know! I applied randomly and wasn’t all that interested, but lately I’ve been looking into WashU and really liking it. However, I feel qualified for the program but my numbers are low for WashU’s standards. Please be my admissions officers guys! Thanks!

Your GPA is far too low for WashU. WashU is more numbers focused among the top 20, which is partly how they were able to rise in the rankings.

GPA seems low but I have no idea how artistic talent is assessed for the Sam Fox program and if your photography gives you enough of an edge to overcome it.

Before I answer, you should be commended for having done so much. I was impressed with the breadth and latitude of your accomplishments.
Unfortunately your GPA looks too low and without a hook…legacy, national athlete, or some immutable characteristic, such as being a first generation college or an underrepresented minority…your chances do not seem all that favorable. Write a compelling essay, visit the campus, and identify Washu as your first choice school. It may help your chances.

@Helpmeplease8 thanks! i guess washu was even more of a reach than i thought, i guess i’ll just have to wait until march

Don’t worry too much. Luckily there are many options. Not getting into a school is not the end of the world. And your resume shows someone
who is willing to embrace new experiences. I think WashU is more number driven on the initial review because of so many applications. Hard to fault my alma mater. But there is a reason why WashU continues to be a highly selective, top ranked institution. But on occasion if you show them you really want to be there…there may be chance. I would call them up and ask them how you rank and what do you need to improve your chances.

@Helpmeplease8 i was planning to take subject tests, but they got delayed until the 20th and now WashU can’t accept them because they’ll receive the scores too late. i’ll just pray for the best, and end up whatever school i’m meant to be at! i think everyone overestimates and thinks wishfully when it comes to college admissions, and i’m no exception

love to know if you got in @ aych1686

My GC told me that I would not get in. I was admitted in the ED round this year with a 3.4 UW GPA from a highly competitive high school and 32 on the ACT. My essays, demonstrated interest, and EC’s carried me. You never know.
