** I will be taking the SATs and ACTs over again to allow for a better score.

I know Im not the perfect candidate, but I would love some constructive criticism and real opinions.

I agree, ACT is your best bet (I am choosing to take the ACT for the same reason). I recommend the website number2.com (I am currently using it for ACT prep, as I wait for my ACT books to arrive). The site is free and helps you realize your weak points/has helpful resources.

If this is typical of your writing, you need intensive remedial English.

An uprising senior might be engaged in revolutionary studies; a rising senior will be starting 12th grade.

I don’t know what the National Honors Society is; the National Honor Society is a respected organization.

What is a diveristy club?

Taking a test again won’t allow for a higher score, although it might enable you to get one.

These kinds of errors will earn you a place in a community college non-credit English class. If you want something more advanced, you’ll need to do a lot of work this year.

I agree with both of you. Wordworker is right you writing needs improvement (I suggest you improve quickly since you will have to take the optional ACT writing exam if you don’t want to submit the SAT) and yes they were slightly rude about it…

Princeton should accept the ACT, almost all schools do these days. You can check their website to confirm this.

You REALLy need to get your SATs up to have a shot at any of those schools, and being moroccan doesn’t make you African-American(unless on the application it doesn’t define ethnicity, i know some like UMD’s does) so be careful before you put it down. Your still hispanic so either way you have a good URM benifit depending on which one works better for you. Anyway if you get your SATs up or ACT to a 2000+ or 30+ now we’re talking, other than that you should be good to go.

@ArtsyGirl do you mean to bring up my SAT writing, or the style of writing? If the latter is the problem, how would I help it? My teachers never taught me how to write, ever. North Carolina has some butt teachers…

@coola Thanks! I just have a horrible time answering Critical Reading questions. I’m perfectly well at answering sentence completion. I got 17 out of 19 right, but I got 23 wrong on the passage based questions out of like 40 something? And the first time I toko the ACT it was mandatory and I wasn’t in the test-taking mood. but thanks again!

Both. But improving your style of writing will lead to an increase in score. Reading more will help (classics and modern, well written books), as well as writing for the sake of writing (both creative and a more academic style).
