Do I have a chance?

I applied at RD to Northeastern University and I am unsure if I have the credentials to get into the school. I currently have a 3.75 weighted GPA, out of a 4.0, that has improved every year since my freshman year. My school does not use an unweighted GPA. I had a very bad second semester junior year due to my parents separation (Only 1 C+, Most were B's), but I followed it up with a weighted 4.43 this semester during senior year. I am in the Top 30%-40% of my class.

Definitely a chance. You sound like a competitive applicant

Received a 4.48 GPA this semester which boosted my GPA to a 3.85 overall. I also emailed admissions explaining my situation with my parents. I know I will receive my decision with the regular pool, and not as a top scholar or anything like that, but would anyone else be able to tell me what they think?

Always tough to predict, but if you are not from the Northeast, I would give you a pretty good chance, your background is impressive, and schools do look past difficult times, esp if you bounce back like you did. But of course, after going through early action and seeing some of the deferrals/denials, it’s tough to say at this point.

I thought I had no chance here, but I was accepted EA with a 3.9W GPA & 28 ACT. No doubt it was my impressive essay & resume that got me in—it probably helped that I’m African American & live in Alabama though. Just remember that admissions is holistic. While a 3.75 is a little low, (like my act) I think you make up for that weakness in your resume. Of course none of us can speak for the admissions office, but I don’t think you should worry too much. As someone has already said, you’re a competitive applicant.

I do live in the south, not the deep south, but my school has a very strong track record with acceptances from Northeastern
