Do I Have a Chance?

Could I possibly get my chances for the schools on my list below? Most of them are probably reach schools, but I have Tulane and UT as guaranteed safeties so I’m not overly worried about not being able to go to college. Thank you!

Applying/Applied: UNC Chapel Hill, Boston College, Barnard, Wellesley, Columbia, Cornell, Duke, Case Western, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Tulane (accepted with 32k/year and Honors), and UT Austin (auto)

Applied major: It mostly depends on the school, but the most frequent majors that I’ve applied to are primarily social sciences
Rank: 34/800 (will most likely go up after first semester grades go in)
GPA: UW 3.8/4.0; W 4.54/5.0 (calculated GPA’s based on first semester grades)
SAT: 2250 superscore (M 750, CR 770, W 730)
SAT Subject Test: Math 2 740, Literature 720, US History 710
AP Scores: World History (3), Psychology (4), Chinese (5), Statistics (4), English Language (5), US History (4)
Senior Courseload (school does not offer honors): AP Calculus AB, AP Literature, AP Environmental Science, AP Physics 2, Health, AP Government, AP Biology, AP Macroeconomics, AP Human Geography

Extracurriculars: FBLA (Executive Vice President), National Chinese Honor Society (President), Chinese Club (President and Founder), NHS, dance classes, other miscellaneous volunteer activities
Awards: National Merit Semifinalist, 1st-2nd Place awards at Area and State levels for FBLA, 4th Place award at Nationals for FBLA, APUSH Award of Excellence
Writing: I think they’re pretty good.
Teacher Recs: 9/10 probably. They like me and they’ve known me since Freshmen year, but I’m not sure how it translates into a rec letter.
Counselor Rec: 6/10-7/10 I definitely know her better than most students at my school, but even then, it’s not like we talk to each other often.

State: Texas
Gender: Female
Race: Asian (Chinese) - natural born US citizen
Income: >200k
School Type: Public, fairly competitive

I think you’ve got a chance at everywhere you applied but Columbia, Cornell, Duke, and Northwestern will all be reaches.

UNC Chapel Hill - High Match. More difficult for out-of-staters but if I were you I’d attend UT over UNC any day.
Boston College - High Match
Barnard - Low Reach
Wellesley - High Match/Low Reach
Columbia - High Reach
Cornell - Reach/Low Reach
Duke - Reach
Case Western - High Match
Northwestern - Reach
Notre Dame - High Match/Low Reach

I had a similar application when I applied (Asian male, 2310, GPA lower than it should’ve been) and got into Cornell and Northwestern, but chose Berkeley instead since I’m in-state and received no financial aid anywhere else. A flat 3.8 is on the lower side for most competitive schools but the rest of your application seems fine. Congrats on the scholarship and UT!

@yinuos Thank you so much for the reply/analysis!! I really appreciate it!
And honestly when it comes down to it, I’ll probably choose UT over UNC, if not for money then because of the fact that it’s close to home (which my mom is counting on). I mostly applied to UNC because I wasn’t sure back then if I would get my preferred major at UT, but now that I have, I’m just waiting to see what the final result is for UNC just for the sake of knowing.
Thanks again!!

What is your state of residence? Have you already been accepted to Tulane and UT?

You have a shot at all of them.

Your GPA is a bit weak for the ivy leagues, but honestly, with all those EC’s and experience, it will more than make up for it. I’d be more suprised if any of these schools denied you lmao.

@NJDad68 I live in Texas and I’ve been accepted to Tulane as a Presidential Scholar and to UT as an auto-admit.

@MechEz Haha thank you. Your comment gives me a bit more hope in the application process.
