Do I have a chance?

Do you think I have a chance? I'm thinking about majoring in either history/political science with the goal of going on to law school.

College of William and Mary
Emory University
University of Chicago
Northwestern University
University of Illinois
UNC-Chapel Hill
University of Virginia

white/female/tennessee/rising senior

GPA: 3.72 (unweighted)/4.1 (weighted)
I will have taken 9 AP classes, 5 honors classes, and 4 years of foreign language.
I have no idea what my class rank is, but its probably in the top 10% or very close to it.

ACT: 30 (33 reading/30 math/29 english/26 science)

Extracurriculars:
Assistant Karate Instructor (been involved since 1996 and have done many things on regional/national level)
Sports Editor for my school newspaper
Student Council representative and committee member
Interact(service club)-head of various projects and treasurer
National Honor Society committee member
400+ hours of volunter work by time of graduate (Presidents Gold Award)
Distinguished Spanish 1 Student award

mmm, I only know about the Illinois schools.. since I'm from Illinois.
so lemme rate you on that, kay? :D

University of Chicago -- Reach
Northwestern -- Reach
University of Illinois -- Match

You're ACT is a bit low, try testing it out a little more.
Good luck!

thanks, I'm also plan on taking the SAT II's for literature and math level 2- I got a 670 on US History. Any more chance-ers?

I like how your profile reads-- you're a strong candidate, a pat on the back for that!

For Chicago especially, try to bring out your personality and your intellectual qualities. Since a lot of applicants have similar profiles to yours, try to distinguish yourself by writing honest, interesting, open essays, and for Chicago, make the case of why you belong there.

We could use some rep from the south here at UChicago, but I don't know if that will help your case for admission.

In loose terms:

Chicago, Northwestern: reach

W&M, Emory, UVA, UNC: match (with a good chance of getting into all of them)

UIUC: high safety

maybe look for one more supersafety? other than that, I like your list.

Chicago, Northwestern: reach
W&M, Emory, UVA, UNC: match
UIUC: safety

bump-can anyone recommend another safety school for me that isn't in the southeast?

bump-more opinions would be helpful

I disagree. I believe Chicago can be a very very very low reach if your essays show that you want to go there more than anywhere else. IDK about the others but you have good ecs and you've taken a lot of challenging courses. Good luck and make sure that you show your interest in learning!!!

Thanks for the responses!! One more question....how would I do if I applied to Boston College regular decision?
