I've done extensive college searches, and I have decided that I would be happiest at either the University of Chicago or Swarthmore College. I like these places because they seem more focused towards academics then any other school. I hope to major in history and continue my education in it after an undergraduate degree. What chances do I have of getting in?

I usually place somewhere in the honor roll, but not high honors.

I am currently a sophomore, here are my classes for Junior Year

H Chorus
CP International Relations

I've done extensive volunteer work, and I am very active in my school's Debate Society (I'm currently the Vice President).

I'd love to hear back from anyone, especially recently accepted freshman to U of C or Swarthmore.

We need class rank, not GPA, and an SAT score.

Swat and UChichago were tough this year. A strong candiate will need to be top 5%/2200+, with room for the top 10%/2150s with strong ECs and essays.

Let's see here.
Your volunteer work is a big plus, and your leadership position in the Debate Society is good, but you don't seem to have any other ECs which isn't so good. GPA is (relatively) mediocre (considering the applicant pool).
My take- unless you blow that SAT out of the water with a 2250 or a 2300 and have stellar essays and recs, your shots at UChicago and Swarthmore aren't so great.

Thank you very much smart.cookie. My guidance counselor (and really the entire guidance staff of my high school) is too passive and too afraid to be blunt to give me any real information.

As someone who want's to go to similar colleges (you can see my profile if you look about 3 or 4 threads down from this one) I would recommend more AP classes. Could use one more EC that you are really passionate about. Good to see the debate.

I would agree with smart.cookie in regards to the GPA.

Two quick questions...Is the 3.67 weighted or unweighted? Are you a minority?
